The Fiche Électronique de Renseignement à l'Importation (FERI) is an electronic pre-shipment declaration required for imports into certain African markets, including the Democratic Republic of Congo. It records the buyer, seller, goods, value, and shipping details before the cargo departs, allowing customs authorities to assess and verify the shipment in advance rather than at the border. A missing or inaccurate FERI is one of the most common causes of clearance delays and penalties.
The Certificate of Destination confirms the final destination market of a shipment and supports the customs valuation and origin verification process. It is typically issued alongside or shortly after the FERI, and both documents are checked together by destination customs authorities before a shipment is authorized for release.
